Day Trip Heaven

Geographically, the Triangle is formed on a map by connecting Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel-Hill with straight lines, but the Triangle Area also encompasses many nearby cities. One of these local cities, Cary, was ranked as the safest city in America. Not bad for a region that has so many incredible adventures within a day-trips distance:

  • NC Beaches: Feel the sand between your toes in two hours or less.
  • NC Mountains: Scream down snow covered slopes in the winter or hike the highest peaks in the Southeast in the summer with less than a four hour drive.
  • Theme Parks: Emerald Pointe in Greensboro, Carowinds in Charlotte, King's Dominion near Richmond, and Busch Gardens at Williamsburg.
  • Golf: The local golf scene is fantastic, but Pinehurst is only two hours to the south.
  • Even Washington D.C. is within day-trip distance.

Local Attractions

Then again, why travel outside the Triangle Area with all there is to do locally? Home to at least four major museums, five luscious shopping centers, and more than twenty-five movie theatres, there's no reason to leave. The Triangle offers the following local attractions:

  • Malls and Shopping: Crossroads and Cary Towne Center in Cary, Crabtree Valley Mall and Triangle Towne Center in Raleigh, and then the Streets at Southpoint and Northgate Mall in Durham.
  • Dancing or hanging out at a bar more your deal? The Triangle is replete with bars and clubs.
  • Downtown Raleigh's already vibrant après-work scene just got a little livelier with the opening of the Fayetteville Street Mall.
